Rusty Quill Big Bang

Welcome to the Rusty Quill Big Bang - a large-scale event challenging writers and artists of all sorts to come together and create an explosion of fan content for the Rusty Quill Universe!

The Big Bang will allow content from Rusty Quill Gaming, The Magnus Archives and Stellar Firma! For this event, writers will draft a new fanfic for the podcast of their choosing, and each artist will be assigned to a fic that interests them to create a companion piece. All completed works will be posted together, on the second weekend of August.

Minimum Word Count for Fic is 3000 words. Artists may create any type of piece, as long as it is finished and polished in time for posting.

• Writer Sign-Up: 4th May 0.00 - 11th May 23.59
• Check-in 1 (Summary Deadline): 8th June, by 23.59
• Artist Sign-Up: 10th June 0.00 - 17th June 23.59
• Partners Assigned: 19th June
• Draft Deadline: 6th July, by 23.59
• Check in 2: 21st July, by 23.59
• Posting: 10th August 0.00 - 11th August 23.59

Fandoms: Rusty Quill Gaming, The Magnus Archives, Stellar Firma

Participation Requirements: All are welcome to participate!

• Writers require an AO3 account - if you do not have an AO3 account, please request one via AO3′s login page, or message the mods for an invite.
• Artists will need somewhere to post their work that can be linked to (e.g. Tumblr, DeviantArt, Twitter, etc.)
• If you wish to write or create for M/E rated fics you must be aged over 18.

Minimum Final Word Count: 3000

Maximum Number of Fics per Writer: You may sign up to write up to 2 fics, but each must be for a different show.
For example: you may sign up to write one fic for Rusty Quill Gaming, and one for The Magnus Archives, but not two for The Magnus Archives. If you are interested in writing more than that, consider signing up as a pinch-hitter!

Fic Draft Requirements: at the draft deadline, we require a fully written draft, or at the very least, 1500 words of one, with a detailed outline in place for the rest.

Eligible Fics:

Fics of any rating and with any warnings are permitted, as long as they:

• meet the minimum word count (3000)
• are centred around at least one Rusty Quill show (The Magnus Archives, Rusty Quill Gaming, Stellar Firma)
• are stand-alone and complete (e.g. not part of a series/existing fanfic)

Crossovers are allowed, but the focus should be on the RQ podcast/characters involved. (e.g. Leverage fusion is fine if it’s the RQG team in Leverage setting, Leverage team in RQG setting would not be accepted)

Art Requirements:

• Fully-finished artwork (e.g. cleaned-up sketch on unlined paper at a minimum, playlist with cover, etc.).
• We are also accepting less traditional forms of art (moodboard, podfic, sculptures, crotchet, knitting, little dolls made out of flowers etc.)

Maximum Number of Fics per Artist:

• Initially, each artist will only be assigned to one fic (they may create as much for this fic as they like).
• Artists who would like to create for more than one fic can indicate this in their sign-up, and will be contacted if this is necessary. You can also sign up as a pinch hitter.

Matching Process: When artist sign-up begins, a list of the anonymised fic summaries will be posted. Each artist will select several fics which they would be interested in creating for, with an option for additional preferences. Mods will then match writers to artists, taking preferences into account as much as possible.

Beta Readers & Pinch-hitting:

• Applications for beta readers will be open at the same time as artist sign-ups.
• There will be a box on both the writer and artist sign-up form, with an option to check for pinch-hitting.
• Pinch-hitters will be contacted if an artist or writer drops out, and asked to fill in.
• Minimum requirements may be less strict for these works, but this will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
